Robbing Mussolini is a true(-ish) story told by Netflix. Netflix had been presented with a number of design options and I was brought in to try a different style. The red banner was a big part of their main poster design so I pitched this as an idea. My client wanted the copy for a title card to start as “A true story” and then somehow transition to “true-ish” so I suggested the banner comes in folded, so you can’t see the “ish” initially and then it unfurls to reveal it, changing the copy. Netflix liked the banner animation so much, they used it in their film!
